2023 B Boys

Congratulations to the MJHS Boys B basketball team on a great season!

From Coach Stanley:

The MJHS Boys Basketball B-Team finished the 2022-2023 season with a perfect 13-0 record, defeating Ridgeview, SeDoMoCha, and Warsaw middle schools in succession at the Dexter Tournament on January 14, 2023 to capture the Penquis League "B-Team" Championship.  This tournament win capped off an excellent season by the boys B-Team that saw them win every game they played by double digits.  The team's success can most be attributed to their speed and defense.

The season began with the Bobcats holding SeDoMoCha to single digit points in the opening game.  Holding them to single digits was preserved by a big time blocked shot by Ethan Faulkner that prevented a SeDoMoCha fast break at the end of the game from scoring.  That would set the tone for the rest of the season.  Defense was going to be our main offense.  Most of the points we scored as a team this season came from forcing our opponents to commit turnovers, and we capitalized on that time and time again.

The team was led in scoring this season by Cameron Thompson, Brady Cox, and Cody Wilcox ... with Cameron Thompson pouring in a team single-game season high of 28 points at home versus Medway.  Others who consistently chipped in with scoring were Ethan Faulkner, Logan Martinez, Adam Paradis.  Throughout the season, however, everyone chipped in at some point with the scoring help.

This season the Bobcats were deep enough with talent where everyone could be rotated in and out of the game at a consistent rate so that every team member could get meaningful minutes.  Coming off the bench is difficult, but our second and third units led by Maddox Arthers, Tyler Smith, Wyatt Keegan, and Adam Paradis provided the sparks needed to keep up the pace that the starting unit would get us off to.  Other role players included Xandir Springer, Zach Brehaut,  Bryce Burleigh, Jakobe Hodson, Landon Krawietz, and Jakoby Crosby.  These individuals supported their teammates while not playing, and provided us with offense while on the floor, great defense, hustle, and were the unsung heroes of the team.

I could not have asked for a better group to work with this year.  All of these young men are extraordinary people, and I look forward to seeing them do great things in the future.  I wish them all the best of luck with the rest of their school year at MJHS.  Congratulations boys on being this year's Penquis League B-Team Champs!!!!
