March 15, 2022

Dear Parents and Guardians,

I am writing to inform you about an incident that occurred at MJHS on Tuesday, March 15th. The school received a bomb threat close to dismissal time.  The Lincoln Police Department was contacted immediately and responded quickly.  Due to the timing of the threat, students boarded buses and walkers were taken outside by staff a few minutes prior to normal dismissal time. All after-school activities were canceled in order to allow the building to be cleared and searched. Law enforcement determined that the threat was not credible, and students and staff were not in danger at any time.

While other aspects of this event are confidential, I want to assure you that all threats to our school or students are taken seriously, investigated thoroughly, and appropriate disciplinary action taken.  Please discuss this event with your child and emphasize the seriousness of this issue. Our school is committed to the safety of all students and staff.  Threats of any kind will not be tolerated.

MJHS will resume a normal school day on Wednesday, March 16th, including our regularly scheduled after-school activities.

Our school counselor, Mr. McCarthy, and I will be available if any students would like to talk to someone about this event.  Please feel free to call me at 794-8935 or email me at shainer@rsu67.org if you have any questions or concerns.

Sincerely,

Sarah Hainer

Principal
