Bobcat

Thanks to persistence and enthusiasm from the MJHS Student Council, funds from the Herb and Ellie Bailey Foundation, and the support of our Athletic Director, Jeremy Weatherbee, MJHS has a new Bobcat mascot! We are currently accepting nominations to name the mascot from our students and staff, and we welcome community members and families to nominate as well by emailing Sarah Hainer at shainer@rsu67.org with the subject "Mascot Name". Submit your nomination by Wednesday, December 10th.

The mascot joined our student body and faculty at an assembly on November 26th where fall sports teams, District 5 chorus participants, and Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) winners were recognized. We hold these school-wide assemblies on early release days to build school community.

MJHS has implemented PBIS as a way for staff to recognize students for doing the right thing. Our core values are Respect, Responsibility, and Safety. Students are given blue "Paw-sitive" tickets when they exemplify these values. Each grade level team recognizes blue ticket recipients and then a weekly drawing is done in each homeroom for a submission to the school-wide drawing at the next assembly. One winner from each grade is drawn for a choice of prizes.

Each assembly is organized and led by the MJHS student council and includes a fun competition. Staff and students competed in a hula hoop team building competition in November. The 8th graders won the spirit stick, which was previously held by the 7th graders.
