Mattanawcook Jr. High School

Thanks to Ms. Diaz and her 8th grade social studies students, MJHS hosted a mock election for all students. 8th graders in each social studies class were the election workers and also tallied the results. Our votes were included in the overall State of Maine results for all schools participating in mock elections. We'd also like to thank the Town of Lincoln and Ann Morrison for allowing us to use their voting booths, stickers, and ballot box to help our students practice and learn the voting procedures.

Results of the mock election are as follows:

Representative to Congress: MJHS- Austin Theriault won 142 votes to Jared Golden's 93 votes State of Maine- Golden won with 49.3% and Theriault received 48.8%

Senator: MJHS- Angus King won with 81 votes, Demi Kouzounas had 65 votes, Jason Cherry had 57 votes, and David Allen Costello had 26 votes, State of Maine- King won with 43.3%

President and Vice President: MJHS- Donald Trump and JD Vance won with 195 votes to 44 votes for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz, State of Maine- Trump & Vance won with 52% over Harris & Walz's 40.8%.
