Dear R.S.U. No. 67 Community,
We have been notified by the Maine CDC that Mattanawcook Jr. High School is considered to be in “outbreak” status. An outbreak means that there are three or more cases of COVID-19 within a 14-day period from different households. At this time, there are over 200 schools in the state of Maine in outbreak status. Outbreak status does not necessitate the closing of school. However, we will be meeting with a team from the state in the upcoming days to review all implemented safety protocols and determine if there is anything that needs to be refined.
With the emphasis on in-person learning, we can’t stress enough the importance of the health and safety of students and staff. Please continue to check symptoms daily and keep your student home from school should any symptoms present. In addition, please do not send your child to school if you are awaiting test results.
Please check the R.S.U. No. 67 COVID-19 Dashboard regularly as it will be updated in real-time to reflect the current COVID-19 situation in R.S.U. No. 67.
It will take all of us working together to keep our kids, staff, and community safe.
Sincerely,
Jean M. Skorapa, Superintendent of Schools
