Continuity of Education Plan
For Student Engagement During Extended School Closure
Due to Coronavirus (COVID-19)
R.S.U. 67 remains committed to supporting students and families to navigate this challenging time. The district’s first priority remains the health, safety, and well-being of our students, staff, families, and community. We have aligned our plan for continuity of education with the following guiding principles:
Health: Focus on the physical health, safety, nutrition, social-emotional and mental health needs of our students, families, and staff.
Community: Enhance connections between students, schools, and families.
Equity: Ensure equity for all students.
Learning: Provide meaningful work that remediates and reviews content, allows a deeper understanding of previously taught content, and provides exposure to content.
Health:
Provide meals for children ages 18 and under in accordance with guidelines from the Federal School Nutrition Program.
Establish protocols to ensure safety for employees and the community in alignment with CDC regulations and guidance from the Maine Department of Education.
Be cognizant of and responsive to the social-emotional and mental health needs of our students, families, and staff.
Community:
Provide accurate and timely communication to all stakeholders including students, families, staff, and the wider RSU 67 community.
Provide meaningful and purposeful connections between staff and students.
Address questions and concerns expressed to administrators by students, families, staff, and the community in a timely manner.
Equity:
Provide equal access to learning opportunities for all students.
Provide the same quality of opportunities for learning for all students.
Provide services and accommodations for students with individualized plans to the greatest extent possible.
Learning:
Maintain and deepen mastery of previously taught standards being cognizant of the variability of the remote learning circumstances of individual students.
Provide instruction to ensure access for all students.
Differentiate learning materials based on the needs of the students (i.e. access to the internet, individualized plans, etc.).
Establish a system for providing feedback to students.
