Dear Parents and Community Members:

R.S.U. No. 67’s District Planning Team has completed a draft of the Reopening of Schools Plan
for 2020-2021. The draft document is posted on the district website. The R.S.U. No. 67 Board
of Directors will take action at their meeting on Wednesday, August 5, 2020 to approve the plan
conceptually. In addition, they will vote on how we will begin the school year (remote learning,
a blended model of some days per week in school and some days remotely, or in-person all
days of the week at school). Specific details about each level of instruction are included in the
documents posted on our website.

Today, Governor Mills’ Administration announced that all counties in Maine are currently
categorized as “green,” suggesting a relatively low COVID-19 risk at this time and that in-person instruction can be adopted as long as schools can implement the six Requirements for Safely
Opening Schools in the Fall. These requirements, detailed in R.S.U. No. 67’s Reopening of
Schools Plan, include:

1. Symptom Screenings Before Coming to School
2. Physical distancing and school facilities
3. Masks/Face Coverings
4. Hand Hygiene
5. Personal Protective Equipment
6. Return to School After Illness

The Maine Department of Education and the Maine Centers for Disease Control will update
health guidance regarding the reopening of schools every two weeks. We are cognizant that
local health conditions may change prior to the beginning of the school year on August 31,
2020. Our dedicated team of educators will be prepared to adjust the level of instruction based
on health markers in our area. Please continue to visit the district website frequently for
