Dear RSU No. 67 staff, students, and families,
Earlier this week, I learned that some local businesses are hosting several family friendly
activities in the town of Lincoln to celebrate the much-anticipated solar eclipse on Monday, April
8. In addition, local law enforcement is expecting a considerable influx of visitors who wish to
view the eclipse and celebrate the event in Lincoln and the surrounding areas. This could likely
lead to heavier than usual traffic in and around town, particularly during the afternoon hours.
With the activities planned, the timing of the eclipse, and the anticipated heavy influx of
visitors and traffic in and around town, I have recommended that the RSU No. 67 School Board
approve an 11:30 am early release for Monday, April 8, 2024. This will allow our students, families,
and staff to experience the solar eclipse fully and safely.
Thank you for your understanding and I hope that you all enjoy this once-in-a-lifetime event!
Dr. Paul Austin, Superintendent RSU No. 67
