Dear RSU 67 Families, Parents, Staff, and Community Members,
It is with deep regret that I inform you that Lyndsay M. Wheeler, a senior at Mattanawcook Academy, passed away this morning as a result of a car accident in Chester. Our sincere condolences are offered to Lyndsay's family and friends at this difficult time. During this time in which our school community processes this difficult news, the district will offer counseling and bereavement support to all students and staff. School counselors and counselors from Community Health and Counseling will be available during school hours tomorrow and in the coming week as needed.
As you process this information with your children, we encourage you to listen carefully and to answer questions openly and honestly. Accepting and validating their feelings is important. If you would like your child to speak to a school counselor or other caring adult, please do not hesitate to contact your child's school for assistance.
